An Interactive Session with Bishop Barthol Baretto

The Bombay Brothers Association was started with an aim to increase the bonding among seminarians studying for the Archdiocese of Bombay and who would be future priests ministering in the same diocese. The association is primarily concerned with the needs of the Bombay seminarians, to enhance their formation and prepare them to work as a team focused on the common good of the Archdiocese. To keep this spirit of togetherness and team work, an interactive session was conducted for the Bombay Brothers on 21st September, 2017. 51 seminarians studying for the priesthood in the Archdiocese of Bombay came together for a time of fellowship and interaction with Bishop Barthol Baretto, our guest spea

Taize Prayer Service in the Seminary Chapel

The chapel of St. Pius X College witnessed a very meaningful 'Taize Prayer Service' on Saturday, 16th September at 7 PM. It was conducted by the Kadenza Kantori of Bandra. Two Taize Brothers, Jean Patrick and John Louis, both originally hailing from India, were in attendance. The prayer service began with the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Taize chants led by a professional choir helped the participants to enter deeply into a contemplative mood. The word of God, read very meditatively, provided a message that was easily absorbed because of the interior stillness created by the Taize chants. After the intercession the prayer was concluded with Benediction. It was amazing to see most par

March to the Mount!

During the month of September, the Catholic community as well as people of different faiths all look forward to the veneration of Our Lady at the Mount in Bandra. Every year after the Solemnity of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, celebrated on 8th September, throngs of people visit the Mount. And so the St Pius X College community also embarked on its annual walking pilgrimage to Basilica of Our Lady of the Mount, Bandra. The journey of 16 Kms began with a Prayer Service in the Main Seminary Chapel at 2.30 AM. As we began our march to the Mount at around 3 AM we faced thunderstorms and heavy rains. This made the pilgrimage all the more challenging and risky as flooded roads in some a

No Lights, No Cameras, Only Action

One of the many highlights of an academic year in St. Pius X Seminary is the Major Play. It is presented to the Priests, Religious, Family, Friends and Benefactors of the Seminary during the second term. However, the precursor to this is the Inter Class One Act Play competition. The One Act Play competition has been a long standing tradition of the Seminary. Each class presents a 25 minute play based on any topic where the creativity and talents of the Seminarians takes center stage. This year the One Acts plays were held on 8th September, 2017, wherein six classes presented creative plays based on varied contemporary issues. These included Beef Ban, plight of the farmers, GST, child labour,

On We Go To Mount Mary's!

Come 8th September our eyes focus on the Basilica of Our Lady of the Mount, our hearts warm up with love for our Blessed Mother, and our feet get ready to climb up to Mount Mary’s! By his Apostolic Brief of 1954 Pope Pius XII confirmed that this Basilica “was built in the year 1904 in the place of the previous one, which had been constructed in 1761, as this one could not hold the multitudes of the faithful who came to it. Verily, from ancient times is this hill sacred to the Mother of God, because already before the year 1566 the sons of Ignatius of Loyola established here a place of Marian devotion…” The Pope further stated that “with the plenitude of Our Apostolic power … We permanently r
