You don’t have to be a doctor to save lives. You only need to donate blood!

St Pius X College conducted a blood donation drive on the 14th of August 2018 the eve of our 72nd Independence Day, for the entire community of staff (teaching and non-teaching) and students.

The Rector, Fr. Aniceto Pereira commenced the drive by leading the congregation into a moment of prayer and thanked everyone involved for their generosity. The 10 member team from Holy Family Hospital led by Sr. Jessy Jose helped facilitate the drive. The drive was held from 1.30pm to 5.30pm in the seminary hall.

The overwhelming number of participants for donating blood comprising of brothers, fathers, sisters, lay students and workers was definitely a sight to behold. Truly, the spirit of giving was very evident during the drive. The whole drive came to an end as the team collecting the blood ran out of bags due to the overwhelming response from the generous donors. In all about 61 persons volunteered for this noble cause out of which 55 of them donated blood and the other 6 were rejected due to medical reasons.

Rev. Fr. Andrew Aranha, the Dean of Theology along with the infirmary department later felicitated the team from Holy Family Hospital. Thus the blood donation drive at the seminary ended with sterling success and optimism. We look forward to many more such initiatives in the future.
