St. Pius X Seminary Inaugurates Academic Year with Solemn Eucharist
The academic year at St. Pius X Seminary commenced on June 16, 2025, with the solemn celebration of the Mass of the Holy Spirit, presided over by His Grace Archbishop John Rodrigues, Archbishop of Bombay. The liturgy, centered on the theme “Send forth your Spirit, O Lord,” marked a grace-filled beginning for the seminary community.
Fr Gilbert de Lima, Rector of the Seminary, warmly welcomed the Archbishop and expressed heartfelt gratitude for his continued support and pastoral encouragement. In his homily, Archbishop John reflected on the enduring presence and power of the Holy Spirit, reminding all present of the gifts first received at Baptism and Confirmation. He urged the community to remain attentive to the Spirit’s voice—allowing it to guide, inspire, and unify them throughout the academic journey. He also expressed his deep affection for the seminary and its mission of priestly formation.
During the Mass, the professors made the Profession of Faith, reaffirming their dedication to faithfully teach and uphold the Church’s Magisterium. The seminarians, led by the Prefect, renewed their commitment to formation and service in the spirit of obedience, humility, and zeal.
The celebration was enriched by the seminary choir, whose uplifting music added reverence and joy to the liturgy. The carefully prepared rites, combined with heartfelt participation, made the Eucharistic celebration a truly sacred and inspiring start to the new academic year.
With the Spirit’s light to lead the way, the seminary community steps forward renewed in faith and united in purpose.
