St Pius X College - Community Day Celebrations
“To restore all things in Christ”
The community of St Pius X College waits eagerly each year for the solemn celebration of the feast of its patron on 21st August. On this day we look forward to meet all the Ordinati (the newly ordained of the previous year) and join them in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. This year’s batch included 5 priests and a permanent deacon. Four priests serving in other dioceses could not make it due to their prior obligations. These are our very own brothers, who studied, ate, worked, prayed and played with us. Today when we see them as ordained ministers in the Lord’s vineyard, it fills our hearts with tremendous joy.
This year was no different as we began the day thanking the Lord for the gift of Giuseppe MelchiorreSarto, known to the world as St Pius X. His motto was “To Restore all things in Christ” Pope Pius X set an example for us to follow by the simple life that he lived, besides contributing significantly to the renewal of the liturgy and encouraging frequent reception of Holy Communion especially by children. No wonder he is known as the Pope of the Eucharist.
The Holy Eucharist was celebrated in all its solemnity by our newly ordained. The inspiring homily delivered by Deacon Roque enumerated the responsibilities of a Pastor as one who is a shepherd to his flock which he must love and cherish very dearly. It reminded us that one day, we too as seminarians, will don the mantle of Christ, the high priest and the good shepherd, reaching out to his people in humble service.
After the solemn Eucharistic celebration a felicitation cum entertainment program was organized for our newly ordained. This took them down memory lane - a journey of their eight years in the seminary right to the threshold of the priesthood. Subsequently, the entire house along with our guests from the neighboring communities was treated to a scrumptious meal.
The evening was packed with loads of fun and excitement. Teams formed had to embark on a mission to an Amazing Race, entwined in a mystery of solving puzzles to move ahead in the race, which encompassed the entire campus. With brothers scampering to find the next clue and with hearts throbbing faster, it was simply splendid to see the display of brotherhood, care and understanding.
The Feast of our Patron is a time to acknowledge the blessings of the Lord on our community, as he continues to form his 'ministers'. We pray that through the intercession of St Pius X we may truly be Ambassadors of Christ wherever we go. We thank you all for your constant prayer and support and pray for God’s abundant blessings on each one of you.
