Called to Share the Word and the Eucharist - Ministry of Lector and Acolyte 2021
On 6th February, the feast of the first Indian Saint and the secondary patron of the Archdiocese of Bombay, St. Gonsalo Garcia, the ministry of Lector and Acolyte was conferred on the 1st Year and 2nd Year Theologians respectively. The theme for the mass was ‘Called to share the Word and the Eucharist’.
The mass was celebrated by His Lordship, Bishop Bosco Penha. In the mass he spoke of the life of St Gonsalo Garcia and his missionary zeal that made him go beyond the confines of India and preach the Word of God in a foreign land. It was this zeal and perseverance that later earned him the crown of martyrdom. He stressed on the need for all of us to learn from his life and imitate him in our own life.
The ministry of Lector was conferred on 13 Seminarians and 2 Candidates for the Permanent Diaconate from 1st Year Theology; and the ministry of Acolyte was conferred on 6 Seminarians and 2 Candidates for the Permanent Diaconate from 2nd Year Theology.
