Personhood and Artificial Intelligence: St. Thomas Aquinas Workshop, 30th January, 2024.



The Department of Philosophy at St. Pius X College hosted a captivating St. Thomas Aquinas workshop, inviting philosophy students from both years and extending the opportunity to other interested participants. The workshop, held on January 30, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., centered around the intriguing theme of 'Personhood and Artificial Intelligence.' Moderated by Bro. Mathew, the event featured insightful paper presentations from Bro. Roger, Bro. Leo, and Bro. Julius, exploring topics such as the congeniality of personhood in AI, the transition from spiritual to digital immortality, and the implications of Big Data.

The interactive session that followed allowed attendees to delve deeper into the subject, with group discussions on thought-provoking questions and presenting their findings. Distinguished guests, including Rev. Fr. Aniceto, Fr. Arun, Fr. Renold, Fr. Lisbert, and other respected figures, contributed to the enriching dialogue, with Fr. Gilbert, Miss Aninha, and Fr. Dolreich being present. The event concluded with expressions of gratitude by Br. Brayan for providing participants with a profound and informative experience.
