Sports Inauguration Program (5th July 2024)

“Sportopia” - Sports Inauguration Program 2024-2025

The Sports Inauguration for the academic year 2024 – 2025 was organized with great enthusiasm, at St. Pius X Seminary, Goregaon on Friday, 5th July, 2024. The program commenced with the teams reporting handled by Br. Kristhudass A at the entrance of the Seminary. After this,  the compere of the event, Br. Renish welcomed everyone

The entry of the teams was a grand spectacle to watch, with each team showcasing their spirit and creativity. The opening prayer led by Br Viyar, which spoke of the spirit of sportsmanship and friendly competition, set the tone for the events that would be played out right through the year.

Fr. Anthony Fernandes, the Sports Department Moderator, then lit the torch, symbolizing the fire of sportsman's spirit. This torch was then passed on to the Captains of each team. The team names, logo and the tag line were then revealed by the captains and vice-captains, and all this filled the arena with excitement and anticipation.

The Rector of the Seminary, Fr. Gilbert de Lima, inaugurated the sports year and urged everyone to do their best, while at the same time, participate with a healthy competitive spirit. He also inaugurated the Notice Board of the Sports Department, “Sportopia”, emphasizing the importance of sports in the Seminary and also the need to cultivate the spirit of brotherhood through sports.

Br. Viyar led the oath taking ceremony, where the Brothers pledged to uphold the values of sportsmanship and respect for their fellow competitors. After this snacks were provided to one and all.

The department members organized a thrilling treasure hunt, testing everyone’s skills and knowledge. Later Fr. Anthony announced the points for the logo. Br. Viyar expressed his gratitude with a ‘Vote of thanks’, warmly thanking all who had contributed to make this program a roaring success and motivating all the teams to do their best right through the year..

The program concluded with the Seminary Anthem, as it also left a lasting impression on all those present. The enthusiasm and energy of the Brothers and Fathers were a testament to the efforts of St Pius, as it set the stage for a year that will be filled with exciting sporting events and memorable experiences.
