Vestition and the rite of Candidacy- 21st July, 2022

Some angels in white were spotted around the seminary today. It is only later that we realized that they were the 3rd year theologians who were going about in their white cassocks for the very first time as they went through the ceremony of Vestition on 20th July in the evening. The prayer service was led by the rector Fr. Aniceto Pereira who emphasized the significance of the ceremony using a reference from the Old Testament prophet Elijah. This was followed by the Eucharist next morning on 21st July at 6.45 am which had the Rite of Candidacy for the Diaconate and Priesthood for the seminarians of Third Year Theology. The theme for the Eucharist was “Called to Spread the Light of the Gospel.” The main celebrant for the Eucharist was Bishop Percival Fernandez. It is a much-awaited day in the life of a seminarian and today it has become a reality. We thank God for his grace and for our formators, spiritual directors and brothers who have accompanied us on this journey as we move one step closer to the Diaconate and Priesthood.
