Visit of Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli to the Seminary
The Apostolic Nuncio to India, His Excellency Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli, visited St. Pius X College on 12th February 2022. His Eminence Oswald Cardinal Gracias extended a warm welcome to the Apostolic Nuncio at the beginning of the holy Eucharist celebrated by His Excellency with the seminarians. Amid the pandemic, even though the seminary has surely faced a lot of challenges the Nuncio urged the seminarians, "not to lose hope, but to continue the formative journey with zeal, dedication, and commitment." While breaking the word of God the Nuncio said, Jesus did not scrutinize the crowd of who deserves and who does not deserve to be fed; rather Jesus had compassion and concern for everyone. Every human person is hungry for justice, peace and love. But deep within, every human being is hungry for God. To satisfy the hunger we should ask God for bread, and the bread that one needs is Christ. He continued by saying that we should follow the example of Christ and develop a habit of listening to God's word and spending time in prayer.
On behalf of the community, Bro. Dixon, the house beadle expressed gratitude and best wishes to the Nuncio. Fr. Aniceto Pereira, our Rector, thanked the Nuncio and recollected the memories of Pope St Paul VI and Pope St. John Paul II visiting the seminary, and he said that he is looking forward to the visit of Pope Francis. The Nuncio was impressed by the seminary campus and said that it's good that we prepare ourselves here within the seminary for ministry to the outside world. He encouraged the brothers to prepare themselves well to serve the people of God, and to be at their service. He imparted to all the Apostolic Blessing on behalf of the Holy Father. This visit was indeed a blessed experience for the community.
